camping

After a busy week of playing catch up, it was nice to get out of the city with a group of our friends for camping! We were along the Columbia River Gorge a little over 1/2 hour from our house. The view from our site was amazing. We were in the trees with a great view of the river. We could also hear the train running almost every hour which was a nice sound with nothing else around. I saw a shooting star too. Those always make me smile! My mom is arriving for a visit tomorrow which I am really excited about! I'm going to put her to work! heehee We'll take her to see fun stuff too.

Surprises

I forgot to post these yesterday. A few surprises we found in our yard when we arrived home. Tomatoes! It is so fun to go out in our backyard and pick some of the yummiest tomatoes that I've ever tasted. I am constantly surprised by all of the different flowers here in portland. In the one week that we were gone this succulent grew upward and then flowered. So beautiful I had to share!

Colorado vacation

I've just returned from a week long vacation in Frisco, Colorado. We were there for Brian's family reunion. I had a really great time meeting all of his family and learning the history of the Nally's. The scenery was also unbelieveable. I think one of my favorite times during the trip was riding the ski lift in breckenridge up to about 11,000 feet and then hiking up another 2,000 feet to find snow for brian's nephew. There were so many colorful wildflowers on the hike up. We finally found snow, but had to hurry back down because of a storm that was coming our way. We did make time for a snowman though!

I can't believe I haven't mentioned this! I was so excited to see it was posted. I got a really nice write up in the Portland Mercury's fashion blog MOD:Mercury on DesignI love everything about the article that Leanne wrote. She even mentioned the summer deals that I have going on throughout the summer. And I am in love with her clothing line - Leanimal. You can see her 2007 spring, summer + fall collections online. I have never seen so many unique and really surprising details. These 2 are my favorites!

It's Monday!

It was a fun and exhausting weekend with the 2 shows. We had our friends Cara + Kelly in town all last week so that might have had something to do with the being tired part too! We did alot of exploring while they were here. I love this picture of Cara + I at Netarts Bay. And me and my love! CRAFTY WONDERLAND was a lot of fun yesterday! I introduced a new item that I have been working on and it was a success! It's a pin that in a way reminds me of a merit badge. I've created them using my images and varying fabric and ribbons for each pin. I can't wait to make more!

Berries!

Today brian and I went to pick berries. It was the first time I have really spent that much time picking berries...I guess because I have never been around so many at once. We picked strawberries + blackberries + raspberries + blueberries and there were more berries that we didn't take home with us. Here are a few pics of us showing off our berries! Strawberries + Raspberries A beautiful view of Mt. Hood I didn't know blueberries grew on trees? I think we ended up with over 10 lbs of berries! It was a fun few hours at Kruger's Farm As for the berries, we plan on making lots of smoothies + a blueberry pie for july 4. I'll post the recipe for that this week!

Focoloco

I just received the cutest baby clothes in the mail the other day. They are made by my friend suzy of FOCOLOCO and they are so darn cute i had to share. All of the items I ordered were made with 100% organically grown cotton. I noticed on suzy's site that roughly 50% of her products are organic. The color choices are cool too. Another product focoloco just started carrying are shirts that you get to color yourself! You can start coloring as soon as they arrive too because they come with 2 fabric paint pens, a glitter pen, a metallic pen AND a glow-in-the-dark pen. Lots of art to choose from, but this is my favorite! Thanks Suzy Q!

I also wanted to mention that my friend erica started a blog about her cute kitties Maple + Eligh titled: Tales of Cats with No Tails They really do not have tails, but they too are such cute kitties!

n.e.e.t.

I had such a great time at the lov.li fair yesterday! So many talented folks! A few that I met were Joelle She makes the cutest felt rings, pins, pendants! I love the lucha libre masks. They also had a diy table where you could make fused glass pieces with Jennifer Wells I wish I could have made one...but she does offer classes at her studio on NE Alberta. My really fun booth neighbor was Cara of Octavine Illustration She was selling some really wonderful cards that she hand painted and also kitchen aprons + tees with her beautiful illustrations!

The latest and greatest N.E.E.T. magazine is now online. Stephanie makes sure that everything featured in the magazine is unique and created by independent artists. The photography + illustrations are also really fun to look at too. Best of all - you click directly to all of the shops! Go have a looksie and see what is on page 99. The ReadyMaker Digest is also now available online for viewing + clicking!

I'd like to thank IguanaFashions and Jubella for recently blogging about handmade julz! Thanks for spreading the word!

Saturday Market + ReadyMade

We had some fun friends in town from Texas over the weekend. They were the first friends to visit us in our new city and it was so nice to have a place like the Portland Saturday Market to take them to. There are so many artists creating amazing things in this city! It's so exciting. Somehow I got out with only buying one thing and it was a cuff from Erin Macleod I think I might need to visit her again because I didn't make it past the suitcase full of vintage tie re-creations. She also had cute skirts. Look what I purchased! While we were in her booth, erin recognized the rings we were wearing from her magazine. I purchased my first ad space last month in the readymaker digest which is inserted into Readymade magazine 2 times a year. and I was REALLY surprised to see this when she pointed out the picture that I submitted for them to publish! They featured my adjustable ring! TERRIFIC! Thank you READYMADE! you are great!

i heart pancakes

i think that it is super that i can get my favorite pancakes in the world made for me here at home! yesterday i enjoyed waking to the rain and then eating these yummy pancakes that my extra special brian made for breakfast. i think i like brian's the best because he adds vanilla and just the right amount of pecans! this picture was taken pre-syrup. i'm also lucky enough to have coffee shipped right to my door for free! my mom's coffee is enjoyed almost daily in this house. my favorite flavor that they have is the yankee doodle. it tastes like cinnamon hazelnut.
